Our Lady of Prizidnica is a well-known and revered shrine on Čiovo, located in Slatine, on a cliff above the sea. This church dedicated to Mary has a long history and deep-rooted religious significance for the local community. The Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica dates back to the 15th century, and according to tradition, it was built on the site where a holy statue of Mary was found. The statue is believed to have miraculous properties, which is why it has attracted many believers, and has become a place of pilgrimage. The name "Prizidnice" itself comes from an Old Slavic expression meaning "place where people prayed by the wall" or "place of prayer by the wall". The church is located on a steep hill, and a narrow rocky path leads to it, which only increased the mystical and spiritual atmosphere of the place. From time to time, the church has been renovated, and today it is an important destination for believers and tourists. Interestingly, the Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica is not only a religious, but also a cultural symbol of Čiovo, given its history, architecture and the beauty of the surrounding nature. The stone walls of the church and its simple but magnificent interior attract visitors from all over the world.
